OK gang, here's the deal. One of us writes a tale that is strange, weird or spooky. Then at least 2 of us takes a guess whether if it's made up, or based on true events. ( if you want to give sources to prove it go ahead, but you don't have to. ) Whoever answers correctly gets to write the next story.
So I'll start. Oh, if the story is true, you change people's names.
*****************************************************
Josh Williams was a business man who cared for his job more than his family, his wife was always on the verge of tears, and his 7 year old daughter was always trying to get him to play with her.
One day, while Josh was getting ready to leave for work, he steps on one of his daughter's dolls, he picks it up and yells, "D**n it, Sally, how many times have I told you about leaving these d**n things laying around?" " I'm sorry, daddy. " she replies, " I won't do it again. " She reaches for the one he's holding, but he pulls it away. " D**n right you won't. " He walks over to the trash can and snaps the doll in half and throws it away which causes her to cry, his wife saw the whole thing and confronts him, " Josh, did you really have to do that?" He looks at her and coldly says, " She has to learn, and this will show her that I mean business. " He grabs his briefcase and walks out the door. As he leaves his wife sticks her head out the door and says, " You'll see, one day fate will find you and you'll be sorry."
As Josh was going to work, he was on the phone when from out of nowhere he was hit by a big rig. At that same time, a package arrived at his house addressed to Sally.
At 3:35, Sally arrived home from school. Her mother gave her the package which she opened in the living room. At that time the police arrive to tell them the news that Josh's car was in a wreck and that they couldn't find his body. At that time Sally walks in and says, " Daddy's not missing, he's right here. " She holds up her doll she was holding, her mother gasps and asks, " Honey, where did you get this doll?" Sally replies, " It was in that box you gave me, mommy." The officers looked at the doll and gasped because the doll looked just like Josh, even down to the suit he was wearing that day. Fact or Fiction ?

Well, I am going to have to guess that this is a work of fiction, because, since the officers said that the body of this woman's husband was missing, there's no possible way that they could have gasped in recognition of the likeness of the doll to the missing man. It just isn't logical. *raises eyebrow*

Next story.
In the old west, an old lady named Molly Westbrook was a widow who had no more family who was on her own. She was on the verge of losing her home to the bank if she didn't hand over $100.00 to the bank, as a rain storm hit the night before the date it was due, a knock was heard on her door
She answered the door, and 2 young men are there, " Excuse us ma'am. " one of them ask, " Do you know how to get to the Inn in town?" " Oh you boys are soaked, please come in, you can stay the night here."
After she fed them and gave them some of her late husbands clothes to wear for the night, they all sat and talked, they asked her why she was alone here, and she told them of her husband's passing not long ago, and how she was going to lose her home to the bank if she didn't pay them $100.00 the next day, later after she when to bed, the men started talking, " We have to help her Frank. " the one said, " She reminds me of mom. " " We will, and here's my plan. "
Next morning the woman wakes up, and the young men are gone, she finds on the table a note wrapped around $100.00, she reads the note and it says, " Dear Ma'am, were sorry we left without saying good-bye, but my brother and I had to meet up with our friends, thanks for everything, so to say thank you, please use this $100.00 to pay the banker, all we ask is that you get a receipt from him to prove you paid, once again thanks for everything."
2 hours later the banker showed up and she paid him the money and he wrote the receipt and left. As he rode 2 miles away, 2 masked gunmen rode up and held him up, the banker yelled, " You'll never get away with this, your be wanted men!" " Were already wanted men pal." one of them says, they remove their mask, and it's the 2 young men who the woman helped last night, the other 1 says, " You can tell your friends you were robbed by Frank and Jesse James. " they then rode off.
Fact or Fiction?

I remember seeing that one. It's called "Mysterious Strangers". And if my memory serves me correctly, I believe that this story is fiction.
Also, in the story, the woman owed the bank $900 dollars, not $100.

Answer: FACT
I saw it on the History Channel on a special called " The Life and Times of Outlaws. " I know the one you're talking about 6, but it's not that one. So, Commander, you win the right to write the next tale.

A NC man was on top of the world..a self-proclaimed smart guy who made money by finding the loopholes in laws. He bought a $15,000 box of vintage imported cigars, and then took out an insurance policy, just like he did for his other valuables, protecting them against hazards, including fire. Once he finished smoking the two dozen cigars in the box, he filed an insurance claim, stating that the cigars had been 'consumed' by fire.
The insurance company took him to court but was ordered to pay the man his claim because his policy didn't specify the exact nature of fire it covered or excluded. The man jauntily stepped into the bank with his check. However, the moment he cashed it, he was arrested, charged, and convicted of arson. Unable to find a loophole, he was sent to prison for fifteen years.
Fact?..or Fiction..[/size]

On the afternoon of November 3, 2004, in the town of Methuen, Massachusetts, 10-year-old Natalia Graycen and 8-year-old Molly Reeves were playing in a pile of leaves left in the street outside their apartment building. Just before the accident, neighbors saw the girls laughing and shoveling leaves at each other with plastic trash-can lids. At about 5 p.m., Natalia's father drove his full-size 1997 GMC 1500 pickup over that pile of leaves as he rolled to his accustomed parking spot on the street. Jack Graycen never saw the two girls playing amidst the fallen autumn foliage, perhaps because they deliberately ducked out of sight in an effort to surprise him and Natalia's two siblings, who were in the truck with him. The 36-year-old contractor had no idea anything was amiss until he got out of the truck. It was then he discovered the horribly injured girls, his own daughter and the daughter of the woman he lived with, both of whom had been crushed under his front and rear tires. Natalia died a half-hour later at Holy Family Hospital of massive chest trauma. The last thing her father heard her say as she was loaded into the ambulance was "I can't breathe." Molly survived her injuries.

Sorry, Logan, but the story is quite true. I changed the names per your suggestion. This is the article. ****************************************************** Fallen Like Leaves Claim: A father parks his truck atop a leaf pile containing his daughter, killing her. Status: True. Example: [Collected via e-mail, 2006] Hello, I recently was reminded about an urban legend from a friend of mine. We live in northwest Indiana and as the story goes, a family had raked all their fallen leaves into a pile by street. A daughter saw her father driving down their road on his way from work, so she quickly hid in the pile of leaves hoping to jump out of the pile to scare him. What she didn't count on was that her father had decided to have some fun himself and drive through the pile of leaves. He ran over his daughter killing her instantly. Origins: What would appear to be naught but a cautionary tale extolling the importance of never assuming a pile of leaves doesn't contain a playful tot or two is in fact a fairly accurate account of an actual tragedy. On the afternoon of 3 November 2004, in the town of Methuen, MA, 10-year-old Natalie Gravel and 8-year-old Merrideth Reed were playing in a pile of leaves left in the street outside their apartment building. Just before the accident, neighbors saw the girls laughing and shoveling leaves at each other with plastic trash-can lids. At about 5 p.m., Natalie's father drove his full-size 1997 GMC 1500 pickup over that pile of leaves as he rolled to his accustomed parking spot on the street. James Gravel never saw the two girls playing amidst the fallen autumn foliage, perhaps because they deliberately ducked out of sight in an effort to surprise him and Natalie's two siblings, who were in the truck with him. The 36-year-old contractor had no idea anything was amiss until he got out of the truck. It was then he discovered the horribly injured girls, his own daughter and the daughter of the woman he lived with, both of whom had been crushed under his front and rear tires. Natalie died a half-hour later at Holy Family Hospital of massive chest trauma. The last thing her father heard her say as she was loaded into the ambulance was "I can't breathe." Merrideth survived her injuries. A similar tragedy occurred in Australia in 1992. In that fatal mishap, two children who had been playing in a cardboard box in a vacant lot were crushed by a cement truck delivering a load to a work site via a commonly-used shortcut across the growing housing development in Banks, a suburb of Canberra. The boy (7) and girl (4) were killed instantly. The family had moved into its new home only the day before. While such unfortunate events are a rarity, that they happen at all should serve as reason enough to err on the side of caution where vehicles and items large enough to conceal children at play are concerned. Leaf piles attract kids, as do large cardboard boxes. Rather than assume such items are unoccupied and that children would know better than to play in harm's way, a prudent driver will avoid taking a vehicle across or into them. ****************************************************** So, you write the next story, Tony.

Four years later, Eddie was contacted by a Mr. Robert Carlton..who resides in Honolulu, HI..who stumbled upon the bottle on the beach..noticed the note inside, and removed it..
